BRIEF HISTORY OF NUASO RAMSEYER PRESBY JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL
The need for the establishment of the school came about stakeholders realized the increasing number of pupils in the primary school, especially class six, that other Junior high schools (JHS) in the community could not absorb them. There was a cry from parents for a JHS, otherwise pupils from primary would be transferred to other schools that have JHS and can absorb their children.
Rev Samuel Lawer Angmor, the then minister of Nuaso Hebron Presby who doubles as the local manager, forced his way out to get the Manya Kpongunor district church land for the projects. The parents of the primary school pupil rallied behind him, and started structure with some levy paid by these parents.
The dream came to reality on 24th September 1996 when the school was officially established under the Ghana Education Service (G.E.S) and named Nuaso Ramseyer Presby JHS. The school has the Registration no. MKD/JSS/55 and the code is 104140144. The GES posted five teachers with Mr. Johannes Opata Sackitey as the Headmaster to main affairs.
The school was agreed to be mixed because the stakeholders saw both male and female to be equal and necessary. It is a day community school, which started with 28 boys and 28 girls, totally 56.The enrolment ballooned years by years till now. The currant enrolment stands at 201; 95 boys and 106 girls.
After three years of establishment, the roofing ripped off and NADMO came to the aid of the school to donate roofing sheet for re-roofing. Some years after, it was again affected by rain storm which made it uncondusive to use. The hue and cry of the community brought the District Assembly in, with assistance from Social Investment Fund (S.I.F) to build a new three classroom block for the school. The concern now is the large class size, that is making teaching and learning very ineffective and therefore the P.T.A and S.M.C are trying to rehabilitate the old structure for use to get reasonable number of students in each class for effective teaching and learning and to get a structure for I.C.T laboratory to enhance students I.C.T skills.
