Who are you and what is your job?

My Name is Gilbert Muhire, I’m 35  years old, married to Diane Igirimbabazi with one six years old son. I’m a member of the Anglican Church since 2007. From 2013 up to date, I’m the School principal of Kigali Christian school/ Ecole Chrétienne de Kigali. The school owned and operated by Youth For Christ/ Rwanda. Our school started in 2006 with 134 students from Kindergarten and Elementary schools, actually, we have 920 students from Kindergarten, Elementary and High school in Kigali Campus and 372 students in Rwamagana Campus. In total, we are counting 1292 students from both campuses. Our schools are playing a great role influencing communities around us through quality Christian Education.

The vision of Kigali Christian School is to see young people transformed into the likeness of Christ and equipped to serve God in the community. Our mission is to develop excellent institutions of education that provide to students an excellent Christian learning environment that fosters their spiritual growth, discovers and develops individual student potentials so that they can become Christ-like servants in the community.

What does it mean for the schools in your region to be part of GPENreformation?

The impact of GPENreformation for schools and universities from our region is summarized as follows:

  • To strive for social cohesion, empowering societies to contribute for sustainable peace education,
  • To help students from different schools and universities to discover different assets/ talents God provided them so that they could use them to build their communities,
  • Through peace education, different schools and universities will face social and political conflicts that are distracting social cohesion in our region,
  • Restoration of justice and peace in our region.
