Our Vision
Educational institutions with various Protestant denominations all over the world explore and experience their common roots of the Reformation by exchanging in the context of GPENreformation. They are open for diversity and understand the global perspective as part of creation. They understand themselves as places of human growth and change, made possible by the universal Christian message of redemption and new life.
The position paper “Establishing common ground for Protestant schools worldwide” represents and summarizes the basis of the network. It shows the grounding and the vision of Protestant schools and universities worldwide. Whatever the context of the educational institutions and their associations, “they make a remarkable contribution to human dignity and the common good by seeking to develop a culture of hope, service and achievement, empowering staff and students to embrace the future with confidence.”
It reveals challenges Protestant schools are facing in the nowadays and globalized world but also the approach how to deal with these challenges. They aim for high quality education – from a theological as well as pedagogical kind of view. “Protestant schools look forward, encouraging young people to take responsibility for their own lives, guiding them towards meaningful work and giving them a sense of purpose of life. They prepare them to take a positive role in society, inspiring them with a strong sense of social responsibility. “
Strengthened and enriching each other in our global community, we all work together on implementing this common vision in our different contexts.
