Talk of Hope: Gratitude in difficult times

COVID-19. Pandemic. Lockdown. Isolation. Home office. Home schooling. Grey everyday life. Longing. Loneliness. HOLD ON! What exactly are you most grateful for today?
And suddenly: Rays of sunshine. Chocolate cake. Health. Life. Loving. Praying.

This is roughly how the Talk of Hope, hosted by Ambassador Jacomijn van der Kooij (Verus/Netherlands) on January 21, can be summarised. Under the theme “Hope is a verb: being grateful in difficult times”, network Ambassadors, teachers and interested people from Asia, Africa and Europe came together to lament and complain, and to pause and reflect on what we are grateful for in these difficult times: For little things like the homemade chocolate cake. For the first warming rays of sunshine after rainy days. For the fact that we, our families and friends are healthy, that we can experience God’s love every day. For the fact that we are alive.

Many thanks to Ambassador Jacomijn for this wonderful inspiration to take time to be grateful even on dark days!
