Day 01: Arrival of the students and teachers

The International Schools Camp started on June 21. The first two tandems reached Wittenberg central station at late midday. Because the program just started in the evening, the GPEN-Team took their luggage to the accommodation while the participants discovered the city of Wittenberg.

The shuttle busses arrived between 5.30 and 6.30 pm at the former Karl-Marx-School and the first challenge we all had to succeed was the allocation of rooms and especially to find the chosen rooms (even with the help of a map, the architecture of the Karl-Marx-School is hard to understand…). But: The participants of the International Schools Camp proofed their cleverness right away, found their rooms and met all together for the first time for dinner.

The program went on directly with a welcome at the gym a.k.a. the prayer room. Resisting the high temperatures, every school was welcomed and the most important rules for the following days were explained. The musical inputs by the Bodelschwingh-Gymnasium Herchen (Germany) and the PSST Bafut (Cameroon) made sure, the atmosphere stayed good. The end of this first exciting day were prepared by TTC Rubengera from Rwanda and the German Paul-Schneider-Gymnasium, who presented a varied program, including music, dance and prayers.
