Identification of Places of Peace and Conflict (Information Literacy)

Between the kick-off video conferences at the end of January/beginning of February and the learning activity in mid-May, the students began to identify places near their schools for which “bounds” will be developed in the further course of the project. There research was guided by the following criteria:

  • Symbol of peace and/or conflict:
The place symbolizes for the students (historical and/or contemporary) peace-making and/or conflicting events, encounters…
  • Accessibility:
The location is close to the school or easily accessible from there, so that students can visit it.
  • Image rights:
It is allowed to photograph the place and make the pictures available online.
  • Information content:
There is information about the place which students can research or, if necessary, also gather themselves.

Due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the participating countries in mid-March, students were not able to visit the selected locations in advance of the first learning activity, contrary to what had been planned.
