The schools Groupe Scolaire de la Salle Byumba and Groupe Scolaire Notre Dame du Bon Conseil Byumba are members of RAJEPRA (Rassemblement de la Jeunesse Protestante en Action/Protestant Youth Association in Action), a national religious organisation that unites the Protestant students of Rwanda.
For the students of both schools, peace means a harmonious coexistence independent of ethnic origin, region of birth and educational level. Some people in the areas from which the students come pursue a kind of genocide ideology. Since Rwanda is a country that has already been destroyed by such an ideology, students fight for peace at all levels.
In this speech, the two students define what peace means, what discord at their school leads to, and how to prevent it:
These students sing that we are brothers and sisters and were actually created in the image of God. A peaceful coexistence is a must:
The students of both and all RAJEPRA schools meet regularly in church services with 250-350 participants. They sing and pray together – often it’s about peace.
Here are some pictures of these services:
Videos and photos show students of the Groupe Scolaire de la Salle Byumba & Groupe Scolaire Notre Dame du Bon Conseil Byumba. They and the descriptions were provided by Ambassador Emmanuel Mugiraneza.
