Akropong Salem School was created because of Akropong presbyterian Training College (Seminary). The History goes on as this. In Akropong, an English school for the west Indian Children was begun in 1843. By the end of 1844, Rev. J. G. Widmann opened with twelve boys, the first vernacular school of the Basel Mission.
The Akropong Salem school started on the campus of the Presbyterian Training College (PTC) which is currently known as Presbyterian College of Education (PCE), and was moved to a new site in the year 1867 and was again moved to a new location.
