The first graduation happened in 1972. In 1981, the school became full Teacher Training Centre and finally Groupe Scolaire Kigeme in 1990. The school started only with girls and thereafter integrated boys and became co-educational school. Currently the school counts four options namely MCB (Mathematics-Chemistry-Biology), PCB (Physics-Chemistry-Biology), PCM (Physics- Chemistry-Mathematics) and ordinary level (from senior one to senior three).

GS Kigeme A counts 823 students in which 521 are boys and 302 are girls. The school counts 8 members of staff and 26 teachers. It has also supporting personnel.

Coopérations existantes

The school doesn't cooperate with any other private organisation but it presents many projects including rehabilitation of the infrastructure because the infrastructure of the school is very old. The Government of Rwanda only supports by paying monthly teachers and supplying school materials.
